Erected on July 20, 2013, the statues in Kōloa have been fully restored after enduring the harsh climate. Cracks and holes were repaired with epoxy resin, and each received over four coats of varnish and sealant. Now mounted on heavy-duty stainless steel brackets and raised two inches above concrete footings, this design—inspired by Native American totem pole preservation—prevents moisture damage. Hawaiian masons will complete the bases before the blessing ceremony, when the Kiʻi blindfolds will be removed.
